Right Main Bronchus.

by Janice Cook-Granroth and Dr. McLennan

Patient History for Tracheal Stenosis

The patient presented to another institution with an acute respiratory illness three years previously requiring intubation and ventilation. The right main bronchus was noted to have severe bronchomalasia bronchoscopy, making weaning from the ventilatory difficult. A stainless steel stent was placed in the right main bronchus. Now three years later, she was sent to the University of Iowa with massive hemoprysis. The stent is migrating proximally with significant granulations in the xxxx trachea. Both the stent and the granulations have been partially removed using Nd:Yag laser. The patient remains well, but has surveillance bronchoscopies now every 6 months.
