The Divison of Physiological Imaging is a group of researchers,
physicians, and technical staff. We are working together to develop imaging
techniques and image analysis tools for the purpose of advancing our
understanding of physiologic processes both from the perspective of
advancing basic scientific understandings as well as advancing the state of
the art in diagnostic medicine. A specific focus of the group is
structure-function relationships of the lung, but individual research
interests of the group go well beyond this single organ system. An important
growing interest of the group includes the extension of our imaging and
image analysis methods down to resolution levels on the order of 5-30
microns, allowing for the investigations of structural and functional
alterations down to the alveolar level in the lung.
