Tube Geometry Analysis

This module is used for making 3-D geometric measurements, such as regional cross-sectional area, regional anterior-posterior length and lateral length of pre-segmented vessels or "tubes". Given a pre-segmented non-branching vessel segment of interest (i.e. upper airway, pulmonary artery, etc.) this module first automatically computes a three dimensional center line of the structure using an iterative bisection algorithm specifically developed for this module. Double oblique planes perpendicular to the local vessel's center line are then displayed for making quantitative measurements which are displayed by a graphing package within this module. You can interact with the graph, similar to Contour-Based Cardiac Mechanics, to display interposed lines on a set of standard projections to see where in the anatomy the measurement was derived, and to extract a full grey scale oblique from the original data set.

To call this program package up do the following:

Press the right-mouse key down on the Analysis button on the VIDA main panel.
Drag the cursor down to the Tube Geometry menu item .
Release the right-mouse key to select the Tube Geometry menu item.

File Button

The file button brings a menu which contains four items. To select any of the four choices places the cursor over the file button and depress the right mouse button and drag the cursor to the proper item.
The Load entry brings up a new menu with Load images and Load centroid items to choose from . For more information.

The Save entry brings up a new menu with Save centroid, Save tables, and Save obliques. For more information.

The Property entry brings up a window to change the global characteristics of the display canvases. For more information.

The Info entry brings up a window that displays the current program biography.

View Button

The view button brings up a new menu for displaying the image data file in seven different ways. To select any of the these choices places the cursor over the file button and depress the right mouse button and drag the cursor to the proper item.
The Oblique entry brings up the oblique canvas.

The Sagittal entry brings up the sagittal canvas

The Coronal entry brings up the coronal canvas.

The Transverse entry brings up the transverse canvas.

The Grayscale Slice entry brings up the window which displays either the original or the segmented image file. For more information.

The Snapshot entry brings up the menu which displays the current slice or the graph to the screen. For more information.

The Statistics entry brings up the window for calculating the tubal statistics. (This is the same window as located under the Stats button.) For more information.

Calc Button

The calc button brings up a new menu which calculates the centroids and display a graph of this information. To select any of the choices places the cursor over the file button and depress the right mouse button and drag the cursor to the proper item.

The Calc Centroid entry brings up the menu which is used to define the tube and the program options for calculating the centroids of each slice. For more information.

The Graph entry brings up the window that displays the graph of the centroids and allows the user the option of manipulating the graph. For more information.

Stats Button

The stats button brings up a new menu which calculates the statistics for each slice and displays them to a window or to a printer. To select any of the choices places the cursor over the file button and depress the right mouse button and drag the cursor to the proper item. For more information.

Exit Button

The exit button when click on will end the Tube Gemoetry programs.
