``4D_Morphology'' -- 4D mathematical morphology functions

purpose:
Perform 4D mathematical morphology functions on 4D volume sequences stored in ANALYZE format. Can use masks of various connectivity.
input:
An 8-bit 4D volume sequence, read from disk.
output:
An 8-bit 4D volume sequence, written to disk.
parameters:
Default menu parameters are
Mathematical Morphology Operation = dilation
Connectivity = 4D: 8-connected (x-y-z-t)
input filename = 4D_image_in
output filename = 4D_image_out
``Mathematical Morphology Operation'' can be set to ``dilation,'' ``erosion,'' ``open,'' ``close,'' ``close-open,'' or ``open-close.'' ``Connectivity'' can be set to ``2D: 4-connected (x-y),'' ``2D: 8-connected,'' ``3D: 6-connected (x-y-z),'' ``3D: 26-connected (x-y-z),'' ``3D: 26-connected (x-y-t),'' ``4D: 8-connected (x-y-z-t),'' or ``80-connected (x-y-z-t).'' The filenames of the 4D input and output images should be entered in the appropriate slots.
comments:

  1. Close-open filter gives good noise reduction and artifact removal.
  2. 3D 26-connected (x-y-t) is good connectivity for low z-resolution images.
