``demask region'' -- identifies segmented regions within a volume

purpose:
This function will process the bit-mapped segmentation output from several of the different segmentation functions, including relaxation labeling. These segmentation methods can segment up to 8 regions, with a voxel being labeled to a region by having a particular bit set. This routine allows the segmentation volume to be processed such that only a binary image remains, representing one of the (up to) 8 segmented regions.
input:
An 8-bit segmentation volume, from the output of certain segmentation functions.
output:
An 8-bit binary image representing only one of the segmented regions.
parameters:
The default parameters menu is
segmentation volume from volume = 0
* region to demask = 0
* copy output to vol = 0
*
The ``region to demask'' parameter specifies which region (0-7) is to be extracted from the segmentation volume.
comments:

  1. The segmentation volume is destroyed by this function, being replaced by the binary volume representing only the region of interest. Therefore, the segmentation volume should be copied before this function is executed if other regions are to be extracted at a later time.
