To call up this module:
This 2-D display module is used to extract slices at any arbitrary orientation within a volumetric data set. New data sets with slices parallel to a selected oblique angle can be generated after resampling and interpolation. Oblique sections can be shipped into shared memory to be used by other modules such as Region Of Interest to make quantitative measurements. Oblique orientation descriptors can be stored to a text file for automatic re-extraction at a later date, or the oblique sections themselves can be saved as a separate image file on disk. Features exist to help visualize where one oblique section intersects others. For example, any oblique section can be placed into a snapshot window with a line superimposed showing where a newly selected oblique intersects this slice. This module can be used, for instance, on a cardiac data set to resample and generate slices that are perpendicular to the true short axis of the heart.
The Oblique Sections module allows you to view arbitrary oblique sections of an image in shared memory. VIDA also provides the option of constructing snapshots; for comparison as well as the ability to generate sequences of oblique sections to the screen, shared memory, or a file.
When you first start up oblique from the main VIDA panel you get the Oblique Display (OBL) window shown at the beginning of this section. At the top of the Oblique Display window are five buttons:
Select Volume Menu Item
The Select Volume menu item calls up the OBL:Select Volume Panel which allows you to choose the file you want to display. To choose a file, left-click on the filename. More information.
Text I/O Menu Item
The Text I/O menu item under the File menu button calls up the OBL:Text I/O window. More information.
Output Volume Menu Item
The Output Volume menu item under the File menu button calls up the OBL:Output Volume panel which is used to create a sequence of views. This window has features which lets the user create movies or interpolated volumes. More information.
Graphical Image Control Menu Item
The Graphical Image Control panel comes up automatically when the Oblique Sections module is started. This panel allows you to change the orientation of the displayed image by an arbitrary amount. Furthermore, the Graphical Image Control menu item under the View menu button also calls up the OBL:Graphical Image Control panel. More information.
Numeric Image Control Menu Item
The Numeric Image Control menu item under the View menu button calls up the OBL:Numeric Image Control Panel which is used to change the orientation of the displayed image by a fixed amount. More information.
Snapshot Menu Item
The Snapshot menu item under the view menu button calls up the OBL:Snapshot panel which can be used as a constant point for comparison with other oblique sections, even those from other images. More information.
Orientation Menu Item
The Orientation menu item under the Properties menu button calls up the OBL:Orientation panel which is used to change the orientation of the displayed image. More information.
Magnification Menu Item
The Magnification menu item under the Properties menu button calls up the OBL:Magnification panel which is used to magnify the image. More information.
